How can anyone possibly resist the infectious pop songs of Cecil? The rocking waves of guitars with the bouncing synth and kiss-me-quick-you-fool (is that descriptive?) female vocals of Yukichi! They are everything you wanted in a indie pop band and more.
Cecil songs are the products of wunderkind Ohira Taichi who wrote, played, and produced most of the songs on the band's slick and very mature debut album, "Cinema Scope".
The band's sound is a perfect blend of indie-rock pop, mixed with the playful samples/loops/beat sound which Cornelius pioneered so effectively. The result is a new landmark band on the Japanese indie scene. So successful is their mix, so popular the band, that I even heard it on the morning news one day as the ending theme?!
