HALCALI

Hugely successful duo comprised of two junior high school girls from Tokyo, backed by the technical expertise and beat/songwriting prowess of DJ Fumi and Ryo-z.  The two sassy girls were picked after an audition.  They were picked for their dancing skills(cute and silly dances) and raps.

Unabashedly commercial, but so well produced(!), vocally the group is like a redux version of Puffy, but younger and with occasional raps.  Sonically, the group owes much to Shibuya-kei, particularly Pizzicato Five with elements of hip-hop and club music as well.  Tanaka Tomoyuki (Fantasic Plastic Machine) even pops up on the album to deftly handle a song.
