K.O.G.A Records
The D.I.Y. darlings of Japan's indie labels. The owner/operator has built up his label to one of Japan's most recognizable indie labels. But he's not sipping cappucinos in his office. He is still know to frequently attend his bands' shows, helping with equipment or hawking merchandise like T-shirts or pins like the best roadie on the loneliest aging hairband tour you could imagine.
Founded in 1993, and celebrating its 10th anniversary with a compilation in 2003, K.O.G.A Records is still going strong with such prominent bands as the Automatics, and the Playmates, as well as up and coming bands like the Treeberrys and MacDonald Duck Eclair. Bands range from British-inspired Kinks stuff to rock-a-billy to punk and hardcore. Check out the website, and the huge roster of bands and sample one of Japan's finest labels.
