MacDonald Duck Eclair started in 1998 when the members, Michi, Yuki(Mayonnaise), and Futamata Toyomu met at a Denny's restaurant. "Great," you say. "But were they eating elcairs?" you might ask.
I don't know. But what I do know is their sound is heavily inspired by the vocals of Kahimi Karie (Franco-phile lyrics plus breathy, almost whispering delivery), plus the electronic tomfoolery of the Shibuya-kei sound. The synth- at times distorted, at times programmed with bossanova beats, when mixed with the breathy vocals are key to MDDE's sound (yes, that's how they abbreviate it). But come on... we all know the name makes a band.
