Miniskirt released their first album on Marsh-Marigold Records out of Hamburg, Germany. Normally Marsh-Marigold releases albums only from European bands (and not English ones either), preferring to concentrate on continental Europe. Most of the bands on the label are German, but there are also Swedish and French bands on the label.
The twist here is that one of the band's leaders, Edgar Franz (vocals and rhythm guitar), is a German living in Japan. The other core member is Fujihara Tatsumune, known as Tatsu (lead guitar). Others in the band are Kamiyama Kenmi (drums), Sachiko (backing vocals, accordian, flute, tambourine), and another girl on bass whose name I don't know. In addition, Mai Kamei (who is Truppen, based in Osaka) is now considered a member of the band on keyboard. There are several former members including Johnny Chinchen (bass, keyboards), Obata (bass, another band Edgar knows about), and me (drums).
The album is entitled Woody Allen Likes Guitar Pop. It is Marsh-Marigold MARI 20 (2003). It is pure pop genius, reflecting heavy influences of Felt, East Village, and the Pastels.
